The Word Of God Is Sure.

The Word of God is sure. Stand firm on the Word He has spoken to you and do not let doubt enter your mind. Nothing is impossible for him. Impossible for you and I but not Him. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. That is my word for this morning and I wanted to share it with you.

I Almost Let Go...

I have been in a praise mode for a few days now and today this song has been in my head and certainly around my heart. I wish I could play the music with it but it doesn't matter. Just read the words and let them minister to you. I am sure others besides me can relate!

I almost let go.
I felt like I just couldn't take life anymore.
My problems had me bound
Depression weighed me down.
But God held me close, so I wouldn't let go.
God's mercy kept me, so I wouldn't let go.

I almost gave up.
I was right at the edge of a breakthrough but couldn't see it
The devil really had me;
but Jesus came and grabbed me,
And He held me close,
So I wouldn't let go.
God's mercy kept me,
so I wouldn't let go.

So I'm here today because God kept me.
I'm alive today,
only because of His grace.
Oh, He Kept me,
God Kept me,
He kept me,
So I wouldn't let go.

Lead
I almost Let go.
I felt like I just couldn't take life any more,
My problems had me bound,
depression weighed me down,
God held me close
So I wouldn't let go.
God's mercy kept me,
so I wouldn't let go.

So I'm here today because God kept me.
I'm alive today, only because of His grace.
Oh, He Kept me, God Kept me, He kept me, So I wouldn't let go

Encouraging Word

I got an email today from a friend who is tired of "waiting on the Lord". It's not that she wants to backslide or lose her salvation, she is just weary in well doing. I understand how she feels. If you have been praying and waiting for an answer from God it can try your faith. If God has given you a word of prophesy then it could be even harder because He don't always come forth with that word when we want. It seems to "tarry" for awhile. I want to encourage you to think of things that has transpired in your life and weigh it out to see if God has not steadily move your forward to your dreams and visions. If not..pray. God can never lie, His Word will not return void and His timing is perfect. "Tho it may tarry, it shall come." Meditate on that today, as it is coming.

Law vs Grace

The Law vs Grace

In the Law we find:

1.God prohibiting and requiring ministry of condemnation
2.Curses
3.it Kills
4.shuts every mouth before God
5. Great and guilty distance between man and God
6.'an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth'
7.'hate thine enemies'
8.the law says Do and live
9.Law never has a missionary
10.Utterly condemns the best man
11.Law is probation
12.Sheep die for the Shepard

In Grace we find:

1.God beseeching and bestowing
2.Forgiveness
3.Redeems from the curse, makes alive
4.Opens every mouth to praise
5. Makes quilty man draw to God
6.'resist no evil, but whosoever shall smite thee on the right cheek, turn to him the left also.
7.'bless them that hate you'
8.Grace- believe and live
9.Grace is to be preached to every creature
10.Grace freely justifies the worst
11.Grace is favor
12. Shepard died for sheep

To try to mingle the two in current teachings of today spoils both; for law is robbed of its terror and grace is robbed of its freedom.

I have absolutely nothing to say other than I had to bump that ugly pic down the page!!! It is a cute pic but I redid it in Pacasa and something went wrong in the editing process.

Canceling My Plans...

That was the message this morning. Canceling ones plans so God can enact His own. Boy did that hit home. So I got a few plans I need to cancel and move out of the way so God can do what He wants to do. The other part of the message way: I can't stay where I am, I can't go back, so I must move forward. It felt like the pastor had followed me around all week. I have come to realize that life without God is vanity. Now those are not my words, but I have come to understand the meaning. It is fruitless to do anything if God is not in it. I am glad to say that I have learned to ask of God. Sometimes the answer is yes and sometimes no, but either way He has to be in it. There are things I find myself after but if it is not pleasing to God then what have I gained? Not a thing. Trouble. So yes, I am on a plan canceling mission.

I had to get this off my chest!! For Obama.

Dear President Obama:
First I voted for you and it is important you realize that. Second we are both Leos and you should know that too as this may get a bit heated. So here it is: I wish you would "man up" against the republican party and quit trying to reach across the aisles to them. They don't like you. They are trying every under handed and over handed move they can make to make you look bad and it is working. I just have to tell you, they are not your friend. No matter how many Football Parties you have or how much beer you share with them, they don't like you. Now as for you and me: You see a need for health care, so do I and since I recognized that you did too, I ran to the primaries and on election day I made it my business to show up and vote and made even my sons to vote. The one reason was health care. I defended you on that god forsaken conservative hell hole of a website called mylot.com where a bunch of folks with no money try to earn some online and bash you in the process. I defended you so much they banned me!! I don't care, at least they got the message. So why now, with a house and senate democratic majority are you bowing down to the low-life republicans who we both know are getting their marching orders from none other than rush limbaugh? They don't like you. We do and to be honest with you, you are not going to garnish not one more vote from that side trying to reach across the aisles than you have now. You should be thinking of those who voted for you, those who shed buckets and buckets of tears for you when you won, and those who don't even have the common sense enough to know how to vote. They are all looking to you.
Lastly, please quit with the town hall meetings! People are showing up with guns who don't like you. OK? The internet is fine and will work just as well and those gun toting red necks can shoot at the computer monitors and not you. Do some online town hall meetings for God sakes. Learn a lesson from the Bush playbook!!
Tell Michelle and the Kids hello for me. I am a bit exasperated right now but I still love you all as the first family.

Welcome again family and friends

I've sent several invites to my family and friends to come to this blog to read my sermon that I did today. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I did. Also I have some I have done in the past and I will be posting them real soon. God has given me alot of insightful thoughts lately, things that make you think. I will be sharing them soon. Much love to you all...Cynthia

This is the message I preached this A.M.

This was my message this morning. Hope ya enjoy it as much as I did!

Fight Like A Girl

Scriptures: Judges 4:4-10 4:12-24
1 Corinthians 1:26-27
1 Samuel 1:1-19
Luke 18:1-8

My title for this message is “Fight Like A Girl”
I am sure most of the men in the room has heard this on the playgrounds at some point in their lives. It is meant as an insult to say the boy is somehow weak. Most girls will roll their eyes and walk away with a bit of indignation when they hear this term. Instinctively or perhaps from experience with their mothers they know to “fight like a girl” is not always a cute tap here and there.
In fact to imagine fighting like a girl brings images of slapping, biting, hair pulling, yelling, screaming, scratches, broken finger nails, eye gorging and down right bloodshed. To Fight Like A Girl can be downright vicious.

You, right now, in your seats (and me too) are on the battlefield. Sometimes we think we are on the playgrounds of life but we are not. We are in battle. And no offense to the men in the room but we are fighting like men. Logical. We stand in the sidelines of our churches and huddle to discuss ways of beating the devil. Every now and then if he strikes us first we hit back, a blow for a blow. Then its back to the huddle again, while the devil attacks us in other ways.
Women, too, are taught to be tough, to have some backbone. Some even learn to box and wrestle like a man. We too try to be logical and politically correct in fighting. But today I tell you its time to fight like a girl! There's a lot of things we need to do “like a girl” and one of them is fight. If time permits I will tell you of a few others too.

Read Judges 4:4-10 and Judges 4:12-24

Deborah and Jael knew how to fight. Deborah had prophetic insight to know the battle was coming. Jael knew she had to choose a side and take a stand. Barak understood girl fighting. He refused to go into battle w/o Deborah. She was not the likely candidate to enter battle either. She was a woman and she lived in a time when women were not thought to be warriors. In fact it is believed that some Jews and other cultures actually prayed and praised God for not being born a woman but instead a man because men were thought of as blessed and powerful.
Most of us are not thought to be warriors either. We are:
Old and Feeble
Have spotty pasts and criminal records
Bodies compromised from years of drinking, smoking, drugs, etc.
Uneducated and Unqualified
Some unattractive, etc.
But we see in 1 Corinthians 1:26-27 that we are indeed God's top 10 for warriors. When God calls us we are all these things and so much more. Yet he uses our weaknesses to confound the wise and mighty.
We are front line soldiers for God, but we have to remember who our enemy is. The devil is not playing with you and I, He means business and we must mean business too. I challenge you (if you are a male) to fight like a girl and (if you are a female) to remember how to fight. When the devil walks up to you and tries to tempt you or challenge your faith, it is not the time to sit on the sidelines in a huddle. Scratch his eyes out, pull his hair, break a few fingernails, yell and scream for God and make him think twice before he comes picking at you again.
Next you need to count like a girl. Barak counted like a man, logical. He counted 1 undefeated general + 900 chariots + a huge army and he came hesitated. Deborah counted the same but she did girl count.
1 undefeated general + 900 chariots + a huge army + our little army + God = Victory!!
She understood that if God be for you then who can be against you! She understood one divine intervention from God could turn a mighty man into a milk drinking, rug hiding, tent peg pin cushion for one little woman.
What are you adding up today. Count like a girl.
Rent + sickness + mistreatment + brokenhearted + no money + God = Victory!! Amen.

Lastly learn to pray like a girl.
Girls will tell anyone, anywhere, anytime, over and over and over and over what is wrong. You don't even have to ask. They just need to see you have ears and they will begin to tell you what is wrong and why. Hannah was this girl.
1 Samuel 1:1-19
She was relentless, she didn't pray a one time, cure all prayer. She had God's ears and she went to Him every year with what was wrong and a broken heart. She didn't pray an eloquent, loud, flashy or even awe inspiring prayer. She prayed her heart. Many times we have many words coming from our mouths but little from our hearts in prayer.
Believe it or not Jesus taught us how to “pray like a girl”.
Luke 18:1-8
Persistence and determination. Its not that God can't hear. He can and does. Its like with Hannah, it was painful, deep in the heart, and only God could do something about it. It said that she meant business, that if God didn't change the situation it was not going to be changed and it demonstrated her relentless faith.
Finally Hannah grabbed a word and a Word grabbed her. Eli gave Hannah a word and she took hold of it and she let the Word take hold of her. I've no doubt that many of you have had a prophetic word spoken to you, or you have heard from God Himself give you a word, or you instinctively know what God has said to you or concerning you. Even when God is chastising us, we are not in the dark on it, He has at some point told us so. Hear His word to you today. Revisit a prophetic Word you were given. Be as Hannah, remind God of His Word, let Him know you have faith in that Word. Let Him know you are persistence, that you care, that you are available, that you love Him.

A Bishop friend of mines had a daughter who had a heart condition. Her mother, his wife, had died of the same condition. One day her heart failed and she was taken to Wake Med and then to Duke. She lay on life support for weeks w/o a heart in her chest. She was waiting on a heart transplant. I sat a many days in church watching this Bishop preach and testify of his daughter in the hospital. I remember him saying one day he was praying for her and God gave him a Word. He would say “now all I have is a Word and a Promise”. He was so convinced of that Word and Promise that he would make us say it. Whatever we came to church burdened with he would always tell us to tell God all we had was a Word and a Promise. I want you to know today his daughter is alive and well and in good health.

Lets move forward in our battles with prayer, and a will to fight and please Fight Like A Girl.

Here I am going off to church this morning. I am sore as can be but I have got to preach a message and it is good!! It is called "Fight Like A Girl" and it is awesome so I guess sore or not, I have got to go. I once asked someone to pray and they didn't want to so I said "o.k. you know there are times when we want God to do things for us too and maybe He don't "feel like it" but we hope and pray He does. That should be the way we think of Him too." So this morning sore or not, I have to follow my own advice and follow through.

Surgery Update

Surgery went well. I am tired of going under the knife however!! I hope this is the last. I am a bit sore but that was to be expected. I am glad to have had the surgeons I did @ UNC Chapel Hill. A really wonderful hospital and they are really trained. They give you a shot now before the I.V. to numb it up, for me it didn't make much difference since I am stuck two/three times always. The surgery lasted an hour so that wasn't so bad either. I am home now, still a bit woozie but doing well. Thanks for the many well wishes.

Getting Ready to Go for Surgery

I am waiting on my son, so I can go to Chapel Hill and have this god aweful mole removed. Actually I may miss it when it is gone!! I have been on facebook, seems all my friends and family are there. I like myspace better, but none of them seem to know how to use myspace! So if you are looking for me then that is where I am. Beware however, I have two profiles there. One I did years ago and it is aweful and one I did a few months ago. Just find the cute picture of me. I don't have time right now but I will provide the link to it later. I also have been on Blackplanet, which I find very flatminded and not too edifying and people I know on there are all incognito, they don't want anyone to know they are on there. So there you have it. I'll be back on later, if I can to update.

Well here I am getting ready for church. Today is going to be a wonderful day. I can feel it. I didn't get much sleep last night, too much on my mind, but I am going to release it all today!! So its a new day and a new week coming that is going to be busy, busy, busy!! Later.

Just a Few Thoughts.

Today has been a pretty good day. I got some work done and am always proud when I can clear my desk a little bit. I was just sitting here after showering and ironing clothes for church tomorrow and I was thinking of something in the Bible. There is the story in Hosea where his wife ran off and "went after other lovers" and at one point the Lord God said he would "allure her back". I was thinking of that. Our nature and thoughts would have said "forget her" or some men would have tried to kill her for "whoring after other lovers", even my own response would have been one of anger. But look at God's love and compassion and how indeed "His thoughts are not our thoughts." He said he would "woo" her back. He was showing that everlasting, unimaginable love and concern. How this is so like God and not at all like us!! We are so quick sometimes to condenm someone we even think is in the wrong when in fact we should be showing a form of Godliness that would "Woo" a person to God and not run them away!! I can only hope that my actions would follow His example. Just a thought for you to think about.
Hope everyone's day is good and I will be back bloggin some more next week. Oh, I have to have surgery next week and then the week after I have to show up for jury duty so I may be a bit tired and not on line much.

Whitney's New Album

Looks like all the Whitney fans out there couldn’t wait and Clive decided to push the album up to an August release date. Whitney’s new highly anticipated album “I Look to You” will be released on August 31st instead of the original date, Sept. 1st. Whitney also has an ABC Special about her comeback that will be released in August as well. And if that wasn’t enough you can also get the title track for free on her website!

I love it when things like this catches my eye. You all know I would pounce on this one:

North Korean leader Kim Jong Il has pardoned two jailed American journalists and ordered their release following an unannounced meeting with former President Bill Clinton, media reports said Tuesday.

Clinton traveled to communist North Korea on a mission to try to secure the release of Americans Euna Lee, 36, and Laura Ling, 32, reporters for former Vice President Al Gore's Current TV media venture who were arrested along the Chinese-North Korean border in March and sentenced in June to 12 years of hard labor for illegal entry and engaging in "hostile acts."

Clinton's meeting with Kim would be the notoriously reclusive North Korean leader's first with a prominent Western figure since Kim reportedly suffered a stroke a year ago, sparking questions about the future of the nation he controls with absolute authority.

Though Clinton was in North Korea on a private basis, his visit was treated by North Korea as a high-profile visit, with senior officials — including Kim Kye Gwan, the vice foreign minister who serves as the country's chief nuclear negotiator — meeting him on the tarmac.

Is my mind the only one screaming that good ole Kim wants PUBLIC RELATIONS!!! And why in God's name are we even addressing them?? How many slaps in the face can one nation take? They don't like us, they don't give a rats baby a$$ what we think, they certainly are not afraid to disobey a "command" from any of our Presidents!! So why are we now engaging them? Because one of the prisoners sister happens to be Lisa Lings sibling? I like Lisa Ling but I have to wonder if it were say Reporter "Demetrious" or "Dominique" would we be expecting a former president to show up with such rebellion to negotiate a release? Betcha this: we will eventually concede to their demands (current disregard) and agree to their having nuclear weapons (which they do have) or we will concede that they are the second world power fast approaching the number one slot. I sure as he (hockey sticks) don't see us running over to get their weapons and take down their dictator. Perhaps the word "fear" comes to mind or as my "plain" brother and sisters would say "They ain't playin that".
